Wow, beebles and Shy are doing ok!! I tell yeah my cheeks and belly hurt so much from laughing, who knew watching a baby learn could be so entertaining. I deff, feel for Shy this baby could keep up with the Energizer Bunny and then some!

Shy has not lost any weight!!! Her grain has been bumped to 14 quartz a day (I believe) Jen has done an awesome job with helping me with her feeding, she has more under her belt in rehabbing and feeding post birthing mommas. She is getting her Omelene 200 and Omelene 300. We pulled the hay stretcher and upped her hay, she is getting about 2-3 bales a day and hand feeding on grass. She loves her food and so does the baby! She is still choking but we have not had to intervene, she knows what to do… She is still having her seizures and thats something I think will always be apart of her.

Shy loves getting out for her grass and walk time, she puts her head in the halter now and rushes to the gate, I personally think she waits for this time daily. I can’t wait until next month she and Beebles will have their own pasture!!! When Beebles is old enough we will intouce my other horse in the happy litle herd. Anywho… geesh I need to stay on topic.. I have ADD of writing.. follow at your own risk. Shy has made a HUGE mess out of her Jimmy Ball, she has molassas all over her and she even got it in her frelock which took me FOREVER to untangle and de stick!  Se spends spends 90% of her time eating the other 10% drinking, sleeping, and dreaming. She is a eating machine! I do have to say I could have not asked for a better momma! Even though I KNOW that baby tuckers her out!

On to Beebles, holy molly she has fire under her ass all day and all night! She is a fiesty one! She loves to run, buck, fart, rear and stomp. Her new favorite thing is to run into the flock of chickens and once that make noise and scatter she drops into a trot and holds her head high like yeah I am the QUEEN! She cracks me up.

I have been working with her constantly, She wears her halter, even though she would rather stomp on it in the grass, we are getting the lead line and learning someone is attached to the other end. She picks all 4’s up PERFECTLY!! The one thing that I am really trying to get a hold of is her drive bys. She loves to run by you and kick you… and OMG it hurts OMG. And she is so fast, to catch her and discipline her is not as easy as some say. Sometimes its like you don’t even see it coming. I have poor reflexes due to a riding injury to my head, for me to catch her mid air… not gonna happen. I will get it… she is still young. I can’t not believe she almost a month old! Time flys and she has MORE then DOUBLED in size!!! She is growing up wayyyyyyyy to fast.

Lately EVERYTHING must enter thy mouth, from shoes, pants, rocks, dirty, trees, halters, ropes, she loves to try and eat hay, grain and grass and pretty much… anything. She loves lick the salt block. She has gotten so brave, she has no issue leaving mom’s sight and taking off exploring, sometimes getting her back into their paddock is an ordeal. She is VERY independent. The other day she went exploring and decided she was going to taste the fence… and she did and she squealed and ran to momma, Shy bumped her like your fine and off she went bucking and whinnying and just plain old TICKED. What can yeah do? She has to learn sometime!

I have decide I think little one is going to be an eventer or jumper! She loves to jump and loves to run… her breed says it all. I told my friend Karina after showing her some videos and her claiming she is gonna be a pistol… I calmy said yup and your the first on her back… I think she laughed for a good 5 minutes!

So July 10th Karina will be out to do Shy’s hoofies (by the way I cleaned them the other day and her balance is still not there) and to trim babies hoofies and mess with her for a little while. I can’t wait for them to meet her (Kirk and Karina).

This past week has been busy busy busy, with the horses, my work and family life that I have not had time to sit and post. Also there have been plenty of visitors out to see the bundle and give Shy carrots and hugs and tell her they are sorry this happened and that she looks good (that choked me up having kids say that). Anyways, both of them are celeberties in a lot of hearts and the support and emails I am sure give Shy strength!

PS. Thank you Judy, Sully and Cindy F. for your donations :) Hugs!

So here are TONS of pictures, not 90% of the pictures Beebles rarely had 4 hooves on the ground :)

Wow has time flown! Its hard to believe 10 days ago this little package was born and introduced to this world by a loving caring and strong mom. I can’t tell you how many people check in with me about Shy and the baby. Not to mention those who have stopped by and meet the wild child themselves, not to mention the wonderful pictures all of you have taken. Shy and I appreciate it!

Shy is doing ok, eating like crazy a bale or more of hay a day, plus her grain 2 times a day and fresh grass, she is a EATING machine. With this active baby I can not blame her. She does look tired, and really rather just eat and not be loved and rubbed like she did before. I am sure she is utterly exhausted. I just watch the baby literally run circles around her while she eats and that makes me tired. Her weight has not dropped, so thats a HUGE plus. Just her intake of water and food has increased substantially.

Ok now that the baby is 10 days old let see this is what she has learned:

How to fold up to lay down, that everything must enter my mouth for a taste testing, that throwing paws for scratches gets me in trouble, trying to suck nibble the human type gets me in trouble as well, that my legs are long and i can go fast fast fast, when I run I need to slow down for corners, that I wanna be like mom, eat grass, hay and grain, I love driving aunti jen nuts with dumping the water bucket, moms poops is yummy, butt scratches are my friends, when I kick a human I get in big big trouble, that I hate halters but I have to wear it anyways, I don’t like to be lead around… I am a wild pony can’t you see, I love my michele and shawn and I think they love me, hooch is my buddy,That after eating poop moms milk is a good chaser :)

I have to tell yeah this baby is WILD WILD WILD. She runs and runs and runs and RUNS! She makes me dizzy. She even cleared a 2 foot fire pit, jumped it like it was nothing! My jaw dropped. She is so athletic and BOLD. I so got that part of her name right!

I did buy more grain, 3 bags Omelne and 3 bags of Mare and Foal and 2 bags of shavings… grand total of $102.00 man I need to start work 24 hours a day to feed these too… its nuts.

Please keep checking my http://www.youtube.com/lovies78 link I will be putting all her videos up there. I got to more up right now. One of her wiping out LOL and another of her expressing her feelings about her halter :)

I have not seen my girls since Thursday… talk about torture. Shawn (hubby) went out yesterday and saw them and cleaned the baby’s butt and put some cream on it. He had a blast, said she is full of it and loves to race around the pen with him.

We both went out this morning, Bill and Ruth came out to see the little package, boy was Beebles smoozing him up!!! She is gonna a looker and a teaser I can see it now! She was in and out of the stall, she would take off tearing around the pen, come flying back in buck hop stomp. Yeah she has so much energy Shy just sighs…

Shy seemed to be doing well today, she looked sleepy. She was yawning like crazy while the baby was out bouncing around.  She is one eating maching. she eats a bale or so a hay a day, plus all her grain 2 times a day. She is gobbling it up and barely wasting any. So thats a good thing. I gotta get some more Straw and shavings. I am with Jen straw is just wrong its a P.I.T.A!!!!!

The babies runs are gone, and her poops are getting harder. Shy is in her heat so it’s all good. No worries. All in all both of them are doing awesome I couldn’t have imagined it any better.

OOOOOoo baby has groupies now too! Hooch the dog runs with her and the chickens keep her company. Its rather sweet to see. KK here are some pictures and in a bit I will be loading more video to youtube :)

Bouncing Baby girl

You read that right, Bebe or Beebles loves to bounce around. She is really athletic to be honest. She loves to pop up throw a front leg then tear off bucking, switch sides and repeat.

A video montage of her. I have it loading on youtube.com/lovies78 as well

http://ahorse4humanity.com/shyshy/boldblessing2daysold.wmv

I went out today and it seems like she has gotten so big over night, I am not ready for a bigger baby LOL. She is fast and has learned how to hide behind mom and play peekaboo under her belly. She sniffed my nose, I blew some air outa my nose into hers, she promptly took off running and tossing her head. Little spunky one!

I could not catch her outside so I got Shy to come in and eat her breakfast… well brunch, some nice hay and while she was eating I toweled the baby off. As long as I am next to Shy she is fine with me touching the baby, she dribbled her food on us check both of us every few minutes. The time I see her get really upset is when the baby is towards her flank, or out of her sight. I totally understand and time will heal this I am sure of.

I bought Straw on Monday, today I went and got 2 bags Omelene 200, 1 bag Omelene 300 for mare and foal, 1 bag hay stretcher, 1 small bucket milk replacer per the vet. That all came to $70.77

Shyshy and baby Bold Blessing made the news last night as well. Was a short story and they got my last name wrong lol since when did I become Clark? I called in and they have not changed it yet. O well. I put the link in the side bar to your left (eyeballs move to the left and down :) ). I also will past the story here.

Winterport Farm Has a New Member

by Meghan Hayward · Jun 09th 2009 · See more Local News

A farm in Winterport received a four-legged foal blessing.

The Spirit of Hope farm has a new member and rightfully called “bold blessing.”

The mother of the foal, “shy-shy”, was rescued by Michele Cole.
The horse had been abused and neglected.

She is paralyzed and deaf on one side of her head and was underweight by almost 400 pounds when she first came to cole.

Cole says with all her medical issues it was unsure if “shy-shy” would survive the labor.

But Cole says they did all they could to help her along.

” Her nutrition was on board, the vets been out here checking her. Making sure she is ok. She’s had the best fighting chance that she was going to have no matter where she was.”

Cole says “bold blessing” is having no problem eating or walking around,
but she hasn’t quite figured out how to lay down yet.

Bold Blessing has entered this world between 2 -5 am June 9th, 2009!!! A HEALTHY brown and white Tobiano/TB filly!!!! She is perfect just perfect!! She is full of piss and vinegar and its already bucking and trotting!

Shy, did this all by herself, Jess checked on her at 2am and there was nothing. Jen woke up to an extra set of legs. Bebe was already cleaned and dried off! Shy had a safe delivery. She had a few seizures this morning, otherwise she is nickering and licking her baby constantly. I will tell yeah Shy is a REALLY good mom! Attentive, a little overbearing but all in all you could not ask for a better mother! She has been eating like crazy and dribbling it all over the baby, its rather cute to see.

Its been a jam packed day. After we all (Shawn, Myself, Jen and Jess) oogled over the baby channel 5 came out, as promised. They wanted to show a happy ending to a life that was not so could and what love, attention and the proper care for a horse can do. Bebe showed off for the news crew, running and bucking. Showing what her new legs really could do! She is still learning how to lay down, we are not there yet on gracefulness, but we are not even 24 hours old right!

Stew from Winterport vet was out. Gave her a clean bill of health. Said so watch her front leg for a crooked fetlock and to have the farrier out in a month. I am on it already :) . She had passed several poops, eating like a pig and bouncing around! Shy passed her placenta whole and has plenty of milk for the little bebooper :)

I hope I am not missing anything? I do want to Thank EVERYONE for your support, donations and prayers, I could not ask for a much happier ending! With out ALL of you Bold Blessing might have not come out as perfect as she did! And Shy would not be in as good of health. So THANK YOU!!

Without further ado here are pictures. Video is being spliced as we speak. We have soooo many pictures!!

I always hate posting cause I don’t know what to say forst LOL. I suck at writing, but you all seem to be dealing with it just fine *I hope*.

Shy as you know still has not had her little one as of yet. She is getting more uncomfortable. She acts just Blahhhh… The only time she perks up is either for treats or going out on the green grass. God forbid you take her off the green grass, she literaly throws a temper tantrum. I just have to laugh as she trots around and herds me off to the left, over and over again. She does have 4 left feet I am almost positive of that!

When I walked into her stall yesterday she had tipped over in her stall head into the corner and was shaking, I am unsure what happened, weather she tripped, choked or had a seizure. Deff. scary stuff. She got up and wobbled out to her paddock, she was a little unsteady. I am wondering if this is why she had such a flatness about her yesterday, she was like this after her last seizure bout, just blahhh. Defiantly the pregnancy is not helping the situation at all.

She has become a lot more cuddly to Shawn and I. Except for the boobie test, we are still in negotiations with her on that one. She DID let me scartch them and put some fly goop on them, when she had enough she promptly, picked up her foot and I took the clue and backed off. She can pack quite the punch I tell yeah. Her belly has not dropped that much, and she still loves her grain. I was watching Shawn walk her out to the grass yesterday and she officially waddles now :) .

I had to laugh, I got her one of those treat balls, apple flavored (one of those round ones made of oats and gooyness). She was getting so mad at it! She couldn’t bite into it, she would slam it around then grab it as hard as she could. I went to touch it yesterday and it is sooooooo sticky. She has been at it off and on. Keeps her busy I suppose.

Friday I picked up 3 Bags omelene 200, 1 bag hay stretcher, 16 bales of hay, bought a Pancur Power Pac. Then the other day I bought 2 bags of shavings, and came back with 25 bales of hay last night. So over 300 bucks right there. I need to get some more feed her shortly and some more straw.

Ok to what teared me up!!

Shy has not been into men, she tolerates them, but does not have much trust or interest, which I totally understand. Well Monday I was out with Maggie in the round pen, cause Shawn always come to meet Shy at the gate and take her mowing the lawn. She looks forward to this, its like one of her favorite times, besides scratching and dinner time.

I came back from my walk with Maggie and Shawn was in the stall brushing Shy, her head hanging low and truely loving it. I walk in grab my helmet and bridle and set off for the round pen with Maggie in tow. I was working on Maggie tolerating a ball on the ground wiggling around. She was bucking and farting so I called Shawn to watch … it was comical. He climbed  up on Shy’s fence and watched.

The next thing I know Shy has waddled out and put her head in Shawn’s lap. She sought him out!!! I ran outa the round pen, to get the camera… must get these pictures!! I could not believe my eyes she had her head in his lap, cuddling with him and enjoying having her mane and forlock brushed. I teared up, I knew then that she was happy, happy enough to trust in us. She has made LEAPS and BOUNDS, since she has been with me. She still gets a little nervous with things, but she trust enough not to explode.

I think thats about it, I got tons of pictures, for those of you on dial up, go grab some coffee or make dinner :)

You know I have felt guilty for Shy being by herself, even though its much safer for her. But I was putting my emotions in it and silently blubber to myself. Well today I walked up to the ban, looked in Shy Shy’s paddock, there she was in the corner, tongue hanging out and one foot caulked up. Then I looked on the ground and there were her peeps, groupies.. followers. Some chickens were snoozing, some going through her special droppings other romping around her hay. I had to laugh, she is not alone and I am sure she rules the roost! I was talking to Jess after the vet left. He said he drove by on the 4 wheeler and a chicken popped out of her round bale, it had gone in one of the holes that she made while digging for the sweet part of the round bale.  So yeah she is not alone she has many friends, her own little possey!

Shy Shy and her peeps

Shy Shy and her peeps

Stew from Winterport vet was out. He pulled a coggins test, as well as a little health check.  One question he asked me was WHY? Why do this. I was a little off when he asked, I was not prepared LOL. I said I tired to get her rescued in 2007, I had bonded with her then and why not. I have a huge heart for TB’s and I had to give this baby a chance. Just cause some ass hat and people that don’t know limits, why should she suffer, why not give that baby a fighting chance? Yup she cost a lot to have, without the help I received from some people I don’t even know it might have been a more bleak of a turn out, but you know what, I took her because I HAD to. For ME for HER. She is safe with me and I know she will get what she needs come hell or high water. SO yeah, I can’t turn my back on her. She is a sweet heart! She lets you now what she needs but there is not onetime I have not visited and she did not walk up to me and put her head in my chest! Long winded answer but there you have it. I love her!

Stew also let us know not to hesitate to help her when she foals, due to her head and spinal injuries. We all pipped in we got you on speed dial LOL.  I am buying her a Pancur Power Pack tomorrow for her worms. Stew said that should do it. I sure hope so she has been wormed so much! Poor girl!

I had to laugh today, Shy has learned when Shawn and I get there, we go out and let her graze on the lush green grass. Well today was no different she woke up from her slumber and walked over to the gate and stood staring at me waiting and waiting for me to get my act together! Jess had mowed the lawn so it was shorter then normal, there was tall grass over by the house and long the fence. So I put her halter on open the gate and she shot outa there like a cannon! Boy can she move, she has absolutely no grace but can cover some ground. Shawn is sitting there laughing at me! So I handed her off to him, while I went through the blankets that I am donating to a rescue, I wanted to keep a couple for myself. I look out and Where did they go??? All a sudden I see Shawn running behind her full out. I started laughing, who was walking who? She was not tolerating, that short grass she beelined it for the tall grass over by Mini the mini. I cracked up! She loves to trot around with Shawn. Mind you he has to make sure she is going in a safe direction cause she just GOES with no thought to whats in her way or what she is stepping on. Its rather funny to watch those to.

I did not get no pictures of the vet, it was full of info and me being a neurotic mom, sure Shawn and everyone that knows me can verify this with a eye roll. What can I say I rather be neurotic then someone like who took care of her before! Then I had my mustang vetted so I could get her tittle. Then I tried touching Shys boobs and was meet with hoofs, so I gave up. Got a few pictures, guess it was a *off* day. Pregomones? Maybe who knows. She is gonna really be ticked when I gotta clean them!

I will be picking up 5 bags of grain tomorrow and picking up 10 bales of second cut hay. She has a big ole round bale but she can eat and chew the second cut better so I like her to have that as well. I also gotta pick up shavings and straw, since I only have 1 bale outa the 2 I bought, straw is pricey I tell yeah! I have been getting her foaling kit together, I need to get a enema, some used towels and I have the rest of the stuff. Jen and Jess have been so helpful, they really have.

So here are two pics from her today.

This was just too cute. She is really waiting for her food

I am going to go sit and watch her on cam, her and her peeps chillin in the doorway!

Yup, is still cooking, I sear its going to be a yearling before it pops, poor shy. Glad I am not the one that has to deliver it, without pain meds… YIKES!

Shy is doing well, she has a nice big round bale to herself, it serves several uses, its nice o sit on, rob on, lay on, pee on and last but not least EAT. She prefers her second cut, but now she is out of it until Thursday. Sure she wont be impressed! She is eating her grain with gusto! She is no longer getting alfalfa, and seems to be excited about this.

I took her out and let her inhale some grass, clover was the drug of choice today, not really into the dandions like usual. I had to laugh we were out and about on the lawn, and I look around chicken surrounded us. They LOVE Shy Shy’s dropping, because of how she chews she has a lot of whole grain pieces in her *leftovers* and those chickens LOVE it. I had to laugh, here they are waiting for the next  pile to land so they can scratch it apart and pig out.

Shy is filling out REALLY well. Her belly is getting really big and her ankles are swelling some (sure you mother or expecting mothers can relate at this point). I asked her when she was going to pop, she sighed and walked away, guess thas my answer! Her boobies are getting bigger they are hard as well. Time will tell… I am now scheduling myself at work week to week so I can be there when she needs me!

The vet will be out Wed to pull her coggins and do a health exam, I can’t wait. I am so neurotic I know, I can’t help it!! I am sure I drive people nuts but hey I love my girls what can I say :)

Ok here are some pictures!

Yes, its true the way to Shy’s heart is through green grass. She waits at the gate, stomps her foot and acts like a 2 year old who has never heard the word NO. The antics would make many horse owners roll their eyes, but it makes me giggle, SHE IS ALIVE and very umm… whats the word OPINONATED!

Shy has a new nickname as well, lossey lips. I was informed that thats what Jess calls her. I love it! Its too cute, hopefully I spelled it right. We did find out onething, she does NOT like Jen looking at her boobies! Maybe its a privacy thing? I can play with them (ok that sounded wrong). OOOOO they have gotten BIGGER, hers are gonna be bigger then mine! Still only getting clear liquid out of them though but hot dang they are getting BIGGER.

I did see something disturbing today, she has worms. I found 1 worm in 2 different poop piles. She has been wormed 5 times since I have had her, with good quality wormer. So we will be coming up with a game plan, she was REALLY infested when I got her and I have not seen any, so I am wondering if its just the cycle of what she has left. I dunno. Her fecal that Chritine took came back negative. Just made my heart sank and I was so made at myself, why I dunno. Just hate seeing these things with her.

Winterport Vet will be out on the 27th to draw some blood and I also asked for a health exam for her as well. She is getting closer and closer and I think she is due, least it will make me feel better. I do want to have her skin nub addressed, its getting pulled when she gets up and getting infected. I want to make sure its ok and hoping its not bone I am seeing under there.

Shy has settled in, she already has Jen trained, and Jess too. Its really comical, Jen has now perfected the grain, just enough water, the perfect temperature AND NO MORE DANG ALFALFA! Yup were are taking her off it, she has not aquired the taste for it LOL. So she will stay on the Omelene and hay stretcher, mixed with corn oil. She has second cut hay right now. I am looking for a nice big round bale for her to eat and also use as her personal scratching post… sighs. Anyone know where there are round bales close to Winterport? Even though she REALLY prefers the grass (duhhh thats a no braina), O can’t forget the dandilions too.

Here are some pictures from today, everytime she stretched under the fence for grass, I was like I need my camera. So I made a mad dash for the car got it came back and she was standing at the fence looking at me and wouldn’t do it again. She knows she knows…..

She was stretching for the grass, but now she is pouting.

Still GROWING

Yup you read it right, no baby. I seriouly think its going to be a yearling by time that baby pops out!!! Shy is laying down more, can’t blame her really, your feet would be sore too!

She has had no more seizures and is starting to eat her grain like normal again. She is LOVING her second cut hay and the amount she gets has been bumped up. Jen suggested giving her corn oil, it will help with her bowels and also has more fat in it. So when I go out I will buy a big gallon jug of it. I saw it at hannoford yesterday for 12.99. I am also picking up some more alfalfa cubes. I got some more hay stretcher, but thats for both of my horses, so that don’t count. I also bought another bag for the rescue that was at Blue Seal yesterday, Last Chance Ranch in Troy. Wish I had cash I would have bought a T-Shirt, I so like the purple :) .

I am still waiting for hear from the vet, I might have to switch vets we will see. Shy needs a coggins pulled and I want to address her nub, (the knob of skin you see on her leg). I noticed a little while back that it had some puss on it. I treated it and then I got a good look at it the other day and I do believe you can see bone, not 100% sure. I have been keeping it clean and putting furazone on it. I think she is pulling the nub back when she gets up from laying down.

Her winter coat is almost gone!! She is a beautiful sorrel, its’ starting to get shinnier but she still has waxy dander on her back, that will come out in time. She has had 2 medicated baths, so the next one I think I will do a nice conditioning bath for her. Bet she will like that, she is getting better with baths and also the furazone spray. She seems really settled in and bright. I think she likes it here. I see her often standing 1/2 asleep staring off. Where she is they are on a hill, so the view is very pretty and peacful.

lots of love
