Shy Shy is still kicking it up around G-Bar-Ranch. She has been going out everyday for as long as she wants, she will usually walk to the gate and if you are not around or happen to not RUN like your butt is on fire to let her back in she will give a knicker or if she REALLY wants in a nice whinny. She makes no qualms about  sharing her feelings… she is ummm how should I say it? Very out spoken little gal!! She did not go out Sunday or Monday due to the rain, I don’t want her getting chilled and she is having a hard enough time walking on the ground as it is, with out adding extra slippery mud. Speaking of the ground, man alive can we say quick sand. Shy is not impressed with this at all, she is not happy with the sinking and feels very insecure you can see it all over her face and at some points she will turn around and come back in.

She has been sorta trotting away from the others, she has had a couple face plants but she is getting there. I am REALLY trying to hold myself back and not baby her to much. She needs to learn how to work her body how it is now, not to how it used to be. Her back end is different it wobbles, its not strong and her balance and depth perception is different. Its hard for me to sit back and watch her re learn who she is and how to function. I am there to be comfort and support, I just need to not rush in and try to save her, and thats what gets me to my core. She by no means is dumb and sometimes I think she wants me to back off. I know your all thinking how can I speak for her. If you saw her she is a open book. Just listen to her and you will get what you need and thats what I have done and I think its something she has not had in a really long time is someone who is patient, caring and will just listen to her and let her be her.

Shy’s coat is looking better after that bath. She smells better. She still needs another one, but that will come. Tons of new scabs are coming up all over. Kinda reminds me of chicken poxs, they are round scabs  and they itch like crazy. I know they are not hives, they are hard pea size bumps. They are getting better. Her sides are healing YEAHHHHHHH, I think that bath helped a lot. She has hair growing back on one side, the other side is getting there. Her armpits are also healing nicely. I did put a thin coat of triple antibiotic on all of them, so she wont itch them as they heal or get mud and yuckies all over it.

I did notice a little ulcer on her tongue. Not sure if she bit it or something stuck it. So we are keeping a close eye on it to make sure it does not get any worse.

I upped her beet pulp intake. This baby is zapping all her food, its one hungry baby!!! She she is getting about 8 quartz a day now. All soaked. I rather up her beet then the grain. She gets to much protein she gets to hot for her own good and gets bucking and running and does a not so graceful crash landing. So yeah we will stick to the hearty beet pulp.

Today, I rasped her toes and heels back, it was due. It Took a little while as she needs her hoofs back a lot throughout to balance herself again. On her front right, she has several old abscesses and they were still working themselves out, so Gina got in there and cleared some out and rasped it back some more. She just has funky hooves. The same foot has a huge ring dent in it, think part was the abscesses and the other part was the ridiculously long heels and toes, sure the poor nutrition did not help either. It will be 6months to a year to get her cracks taken care of and start growing proper hoof. All and all she did a good job. After that was over, we took her outside to get brushed and loves and soak up some sun. Her coat is starting to look good, it has copper hues to it… really pretty. She loves to be groomed, she will even stop eating to get brushed!!

O I got to tell you something REALLY funny. I noticed her vagina and a purple hue, I freaked… yup I did. I was poking around wondering if she scrapped it or something. So I asked Gina to look while I held her, well before I knew it both of her back heels came up and Gina is standing with her mouth wide open like how the hell did that happen??? She came up not even a foot, but yes we are a little spunky!! I LOVE IT! But soon it was forgotten and she went back to getting treats!! She loves them even though it takes a little finesse to get them in her mouth.

Nope no baby yet, its still cooking in there! I did see it wiggle a little today when I was brushing so thats cool. I got a little fluid out of her teets, its was clear and no I was not brave enough to taste it!! Derby did!
She has a little bit of a puffiness going on. I swear she likes messing with my head!!

Hmm what else? She is still in the stall next to Derby and he still hangs with her, I think he is using her for hay though, his tummy rules him! But to see them nose to nose relaxing is really cute. Maggie my mustang was in the barn with her today, Shy was in her turnin and Maggie was on the other side hanging her head over, being nosy as usual. No bites, kicks or squeals so thats good.

Bath day

I took advantage of the sun and warm weather. I grabbed a bucket of water, medicated shampoo and out I went. Shy knew what was up and made me play TAG in the pasture. Man she is a sucker for scratches gets her every time! She was not impressed with the bath, but she had big flakes of black stuff coming off her skin, the water running off was a dark gray. Was GROSS. She had chunks from scabs coming off, was just nasty and made me ugly at the idiots who had her. I bathed her from the chest back, didn’t want to do her neck today. Got the water off and towel dried her. I think she felt a little better after it was over.. you know baths are traumatic LOL. She really did well considering.

Today has been a off day for Shy, she is leaving a lot of food uneaten, does not know if she wants to be in or out up or down. She just acts BLAH. Who knows maybe its getting closer to birth time. This is the first day that she has left breakfast and lunch hay sitting there. Not her norm for sure. Her tummy sounds are great, she is pooping and drinking so who knows. I am not getting my hopes up… I think she likes stringing me along!!

She hung outside for a couple hours this morning, then I had to leave to go Meet Louise in Newport. What a wonderful trip. Louise bought the saddle I had for sale, and also brought a bale of second cut hay for her. How sweet. I felt so stupid though, its like TY was not enough, I know times are hard for everyone and the generosity has been over whelming, but I just don’t know what else to say but Thank You and a hug. It was nice to see Amy Beem again and we will be getting some hay from her, I trust their hay and it smells SO good.  Enjoy the saddle Louise !!!

Yes I did get pictures today but… hubby left the camera somewhere in the barn (who knows where) so I don’t have any to upload, so tomorrow you will get double the pictures hows that sound?

KK Off to relax and find something to eat.

Well, its exciting a fellow *bred* and Shy have fallen in love. I swear its the most moving thing ever. Here is the scope, bare with me!

The other day I brought Shy in and let Rock Rock and Derby out. I put hay down in her pan on the far end of the stall like I always do. Well Derby wouldn’t leave he stayed in on the other side of the gate with Shy. He normally does not do this. Well I chuckle to myself and walk out to see, groom and love my other 2 girls and do their stretches.

I come back in to see Shy by the gate along with Derby. She had moved her pan from the other end of the stall to the gate where her a Derby were happily munching hay. Aweeeeeeeeee Kodak moment but NO CAMERA grrrrrrr. I chuckle grab the shedding blade and walk back out, they obviously were having their first date over a pile of second cut hay and a bucket of warm water… how romantic.

Well an hour must have passed, I was out playing tag with my mustang and getting groomings by Mazzie (guess I did not do my hair to her liking as she styled it for me), anyways I come back in and Derby was still at the gate along with Shy, nose to nose napping. Man I am a sap I teared up and was thinking what a cute couple. 2 off the track thouroughbred in love! My heart went pitter patter!

You all remember my distraught post about not letting Shy Shy in with a herd, well I guess she took offense to that and showed me I am WRONG! I gladly accept that!!! I could not go out Thursday, as I had to do some stuff for my new job I have.  So Gina was taking the manure out to the back pasture, she opened the gate and guess who trots right out with the herd (mind you 2 of the most ummm trouble makers/freak out ones are over with my 2 in the big pasture). There she is out with Derby, Rocky and Misty. No halter NOTHING. Gina is OMG OMG. And guess what happened????

NOTHING NOTHING at all. They ate hay. How eventful was that! I am dumbfounded and excited in all one fell swoop of emotion!

So today we moved her stall because hers was flooded and we don’t want her in that, so she got moved next to her BF and has twice the amount of room. I do explain lights out at 10pm but I think I got the eye roll and she walked off LOL.

While we were cleaning out her inside run in she high tailed it out with the boys and Misty. Of course Derby by her side. Eating and she was as content as could be. The spark was ever so bright in her eye… was amazing. Yeah sounds corny but if you could have seen how dead her eyes were when I got her you would understand.

I got a bunch of photos, a little ticked that I missed her groom Rock Rock, but Misty was not impressed he was messing with another girl, so one tail swish and flat ears he decided he would just share her hay.

She stayed  out about a 1/2 hour then she hung around the gate and wanted to come in, so she finished her lunch hay and drank some. She was not impressed when she saw Gina holding furazone and me with a rope halter, she knew what was up and was gonna make us work. Finally I got some MTG on her butt and her sides and furazoned her ouchies up. I will be so glad for a warm day so I can bath her in her medicated shampoo and get her healed up!!!! NO MORE SNOW!

Today I did buy 3 bales of second cut hay for 13.50. The other day I went to the grain store got her sweet, beet pulp, alfalfa and bran its came to $54.99.  She is no longer getting Dengie, I gave up LOL. She saw that and would pick the pan up and throw it. She wanted the REAL stuff not the dryed crap! Cant blame her really.

Nope no clue, when she is gonna pop. Her boobies are the same no change, nothing new. I wish she would just carve it in the shavings I am due on such and such date. I tell yeah I feel like a kid waiting for a big surprise and its NEVER coming. Holy cow how much longer does it have to bake in there???? I know its getting big and I think I got weight on her in the knick of time. I think now most of what I am feeding is going to the little one. 2 times a day she gets 6 quartz beet pulp, 6 quartz horsemen feed, 4 quartz hay stretcher, 10 cubes of alfalfa,  2 scoop’s bran, mineral oil, corn oil, vitamins and 5 flakes of second cut hay and whatever she eats of hay when she is outside. Thats A LOT of grain. She is not loosing but has stopped gaining. So that tells me the baby is growing and getting what it needs and thats awesome.

Ok I will stop chatting and get to the pictures!!

Look at that belly!!!! Looks like she swalloed a beach ball!

Look at that belly!!!! Looks like she swalloed a beach ball!

shyheadheart1Shy is digging her new hoofs. I noticed she can turn a lot better instead of picking and placing and then twisting, I noticed she is starting to pivet and not twist her hoofs. Yippeee.

She is digging the hay also, yep she is balling it and no matter what we do that is something that wont change. She even does it with her slop. Part of having paralysis in the tongue. But yeah she drools for her hay, and loves it. She is starting to actually leave some. Instead of scarfing it down. To me that means she is full and also she knows she wont have to worry about her next meal. That in itself is a HUGE mile stone.

I did have a realization that broke my heart today. I am 98% sure Shy can never be integrated in our herd. Her disabilities make her over react. Misty and Shy who have been pastured many times together,  were in the big pasture sharing a fresh round bale. After Shy moved the 600+ round bale around with her butt and using it as her own personal scratching tool, they settled in to eat peacefully. So Gina and I thought it was fine to go in the barn. I had to bring Maggies toes back and also trim Mazzie since her leg has healed enough. Well I was holding Maggie while Gina was checking my work ( I hate the nipping part), I looked up in time to see Misty JUST pin her ears and add a little head jab to the air. Shy was about 3-4feet from her and she totally over reacted. It was on her good side, but this is something I have noticed with her. I think her sensitivity level is elevated and her hind end just does not cooperate. Shy went to back up fast and lost it. Her hind end collapsed and she went over. I dropped Maggie’s line and flew out there. I helped her get steady and she stood there dumb founded and a little wobbly. I held her head for a few minutes until she chose to go eat again. I did spread the hay out FAR apart. The rest of the afternoon went incident free.

My heart sank, she stands in her stall with her leg cocked up right next to the gate, thats as close as she can get to the other herd. She wants to be in a herd. It breaks my heart, you don’t even understand how much my heart aches over this.  I am gonna see if placing Misty and Dee in there will help a litte to even the bodies out and keeping Misty more occupied. I would never dream of putting her with any of the others they put the chase onto any new herd member and thats not something she can handle. I would put her out alone but she runs and sweats herself up and I can’t blame her.

I am thinking after she foals and once the foal gets about a month old, I might look for a easy keeper (has to be a easy keeper as far as not needing butt loads of grain), perferably a gelding, to be her permanent pasture mate. Something that will stay just with her and be a buddy. But this is all tenative and see how things go. Maybe once the lopsided baby is over with she will have better stability, I am trying to keep a optomistic mind about all of this.

Her sides are healing well!!! Bout time. I am now putting furazone paste on it and she is keeping it on YIPPEEEEEEE. They still are a little itchy but when anything heals it itches.

Tomorrow, I am gonna massage her down. I am going to put a sheet in the dryer get it warm and lay it on her. Her neck muscles, they still need some more work specially the right side. She loves this. Loves to be brushed, rubbed, scratched and hugged.

OOOOOOO, remeber when I was first starting to put halters on her? When the regular weave halters rattled she would get seriously upset. Well the rope halter is working awesome, she is getting to the point that 98% time she will put her nose out so I can slide it on!!! No more turning away wide bug eyes!!! See little things mean so much!!!

I will be getting some more beet pulp, alfalfa and senior grain tommorow. She has 1 bale of hay left, and she looks forward to that EVERY day. She is now getting 1 flake after supper. She wont eat the dengie, she throws it around and grinds it into the floor, so I am taking her hint and no longer giving it to her, unless I deem it neccesary. Sure she is happy about that!!

Hopefully tomorrow I will get some more pictures, to much was going on today to haul it out.

Take care and have a good night!!

Shy had a really nice Saturday. She has her feet done, a massage and a reading. It was a long day but today I could tell her walking was SO much better. She did not swivel her heel and seemed to be all around more comfortable.

I wanted to get before and after pictures but it was to hard on Shy Shy to stand that long. Yesterday we found out its REALLY hard for Shy to stand 3 legged and her balance is just not there. Its almost like she constantly walks to keep her balance. So there are pictures from the process thats the best we could do.

So Karina came and spent sometime with Shy Shy just getting her used to things, for those of you who do not know who Karina Lewis is please go to THIS link. She has many gifts besides training wild mustangs, barefoot trimming.

Her reading:

Shy knows that she is not right and she is upset and angry about it and also is embarrassed ( we saw this during her trimming process). She has raced and its was not a good point in her life. She has had shoes in the past, but her hoof care since has been below par. She has had some hoof care here in there but not a professional job. Karina was not bashing any trimming just called it how she saw it. Said Shy really feels safe with me and know I will do anything for her. I did ask Karina what she thought of the baby and Karina smiled and said she is excited!! That is so good to know.

The trimming:

It was rough. Her balance sucks and she has a fear of nippers, Karina attributes it to her being *quicked* before. She was fine with the rasp but the nippers she was totally fearful. Shy has pancake hooves and that wont change since she is not able to get normal exercise. She had hoof wall separation on all 4 hooves along with severe flares and cracks. She did tell me Shy Shy was in a lot of pain with her hoof condition *duhhh*.  Now FINALLY they are done and she seems SO much more happier. O forgot to mention the deep grooves on her hoofs are not from founder at all. Its malnutrition rings. Karina being a vet tech has seen this before and knew right off what it was. So that is good to know and its been documented.

Massage:

That went super I think it was her favorite time. Karina worked on the right side of her neck, the muscle is bulging and she helped to loosen it. She did some meridian points and Shy Shy was in heaven!! I think if Shy has her way karina would still be there rubbing her.

So it was a long day but full of info, hope and smiles. I learned a lot about Shy and knowing and experience how much she trust me was amazing a feeling that I couldn’t  duplicate. For Shy to rest her head in my arms, shaking while she was having her hooves nipped, relying and trusting me leaves me speechless. I can not express the unspoken bond yesterday made with us. Even today that soft look and warm knicker hit me on a all new level. She knows she is my girl and always will be.

Today she was perky as could be and loving the sunshine. When she is in she stands by the gate and looks out the window, sometimes I think she day dreams. She did go for a walk down the driveway with her buddy Misty. She did great, even though she wanted to roll on every snowbank in sight. She stopped once she learned it was a little hard to roll with that huge budda belly thing going on! We walked to the end of the drive way she sniffed watch cars go by and was a lady. She like her walks, we are getting the hang of not walking in circles though. Today I found that if I keep pressure on the lead line towards her good side she walks straighter. If I leave her slack she walks straight for 2 steps and she vears off… if know one knew they would mistake her for a drunk horse :) .

She is LOVING her hay, I got her 2 bales green fine second cut at a really sweet price $4.50 per bale. I got it Friday and she is 1/2 way through her first bale. We are still only really giving it to her when we are around. I noticed she is balling it constantly, meaning every feeding of it. She has not *choked* she seems to catch it before it gets that bad. I have let her eat it and she eats the balled stuff as well. Anyone want some ABC hay?  Hey its working and she is loving it so why not. This hay she can’t have tons of cause it is rich, so she is getting 3 flakes a day. We had did replace her noon time grain and afternoon dengie with hay. So far so good!!!

I will be doing another grain run I think on Thursday. I want to go get some sawdust, but my personal finances just blew up in my face with some unexpected car stuff so that has to go on the back burner!

I will be in touch again. Once again Thank You ALL for your support well wishes and prayers! Heres to hoping for a April Fools baby… how ironic would that be?

The birds are chirping, the horses are nuzzling at the new grass sprouts and the mud is coming. I have even seen a few house flys!! Let the flooding, bug and mud begin!!!

Sorry I have not updated the last 2 days, I did not know I had dedicated readers, I hand my crop to you!! Things are ok. Today was her first day with 2 meals of grain and hay inbetween. Yes you read that right. after speaking with the vet we started her on fine second cut hay. Its green, easy to chew and yummy!

Ok I got to tell you a little story. Gina and I went to pick up 2 bales of the yummiest and best quality hay we could set our hands onto, Shy loves her hay so much we needed to get her back on it. So here we are walking into the barn with 2 bales, her eyes go as big as saucers, she not so gracefully rushes to the black gate. I had to let her have a little taste. She fumbled with getting her mouth through the gate bars, instead of putting her head through the top (think she was a tad excited). She took a small mouthful, once it hit her taste buds she kept grabbing for more and more and more until her mouth was packed full. I brought the bale over and set it on top of the other one out of her reach. She licked her lips, walked in circles kept putting her head over the gate staring at the hay.

She was not impressed I told her she had to wait until 11:30 her normal eating time. I go on to clean stalls, Gina leaves for Bangor. I happen to look up and she is STILL at the gate staring at the hay then I notice she was DROOLING! OMG, I started laughing. She looks at me like one more taste???? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee. It was close enough to lunch I decided to give her a small flake to see how she does. The knicker and excitement was awesome, I think I could have had her jump the moon for this stuff. It has power over her for sure. She enjoys it so much. she starts munching it, as I stand there and watch her. I wanted to make sure she was chewing it good and not choking. She picks the sweet leaves first, she looks up at me with hay hanging outa her mouth and a big ole sighs escapes, thats all she needed to say. I then left her alone to go spend time with my other two horses, its hard splitting my time up for sure. I am learning.

I come back in look in her stalls and no sign of a strand of hay, she cleaned it up really well, she should teach my horses to do that instead of using it as their personal bathroom or bed!

Little while later she got her second small flake with a little dengie in the bottom, I was leaving and like to leave her with something to munch on. Well she scarfed her hay. I was in pouring feed for my horses then I hear BANG. I ran around the corner, hoping she did not choke and fall, my heart in my throat, I turn the corner to find her head pop up and star at me. I look down and she had taken her dish that had dengie in it and FLUNG it about 4feet. Simply put Shy is no longer impressed with Dengie!!! She thinks she is beyond it now!

I did give her a good brushing and put some more wound treatment on her booboo’s. I do have to say they are looking a lot better. Hopefully her spot bath and this treatment will have them healed in no time!

Tomorrow is a big day for Shy Shy, she has a barefoot specialist coming out, she is really experienced with cases like this and also her physical needs. She happens to also be a vet tech and a Wild Mustang gentler/trainer. She will also be getting a massage and a reading. I am excited and scared. Cause she is really having balance issues, I don’t want her to fall but her feet are BAD! I will also be getting a write up on her opinions on when her feet were last done and so fourth.

Here are a couple pictures from today. she is shedding out and I can’t wait for that to be over!!

Off to be a housewife! Take care all!!!

Yesterday, I was to tired to write, sleep is just not happening. I don’t know if I am nesting or what but the baby dreams are unreal and almost real. Man o man!

She went outside for while yesterday with Misty. We let her out and she immediately ran for the round bale, I was like your not starving deary. No she had something else on her mind, she used it as a scratching post. Her sides and belly. O she was loving it. Misty was looking at her in disgust, like you know I EAT off that! After her romp with the round bale they settled down to afternoon lunch under the drape of a blue sky and the beaming sunlight. O can not forget the rolling in the mud then the hay, almost like she tared and feathered herself, leaving it to me to clean up. I took the shedding blade to her, which she LOVES, brushed her and tackled her mane and tail. Its so waxy and brittle at the same time. So I was like you know what we are chopping it. Yup cringe cause I did it, she can get air to her neck and not have that yucky mane there ewwy. Its about 5 inches long now. I have to clean it up cause someone who not stop wiggling. I then braided her tail and it looks so purty, she on the other hand just looks at me and sighs.. somehow I don’t think she cares for dress up LOL.

Today I went out and she was her hyper self, she is feeling good and that protein has her going going going. It was funny, I saw she was eating the last of her breakfast denji this morning when I came, I am thinking good she can wait an hour for her lunch and all is well… WRONG. I went to clean her stall after giving her some rubs, she was fine till I walked right past the denji bucket and showed no signs of turning around. So then I hear a big ole knicker with a snort, I look over she is hanging her head out the gate with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth. I turned around and went back to cleaning her stall, then I hear a BANG BOOM CLANG BOOM. I look over she is going at the broom, trying to eat the bottom of it. Good lord thats not hay!! So I take the broom away and give her some denji, problem solved, with a little snort and sigh so was off to munching land.

While she was eating her mash for lunch I went to bend down to look at her udders, holy cow little miss pissy!!! To get her to let me was in itself a challenge!!! But to my amazement, they both have milk now and the nipples are hard and the bags are hot. I wish I did not forget my camera!!! They are getting there, I have not seen the baby really move the last couple of days either. I know she is getting HUGE! I think she has 2-3 weeks!!! I can’t wait! Hopefully she will have a good foaling experience!

I did got to the tack shop today and pick up some stuff for her skin issues, reading a talking with Sue, it reminds me of hotspots. It all seems to fit. So I got some stuff thats like resin and promotes healing. I also picked up, probios, and MTG. Came to $14.87.

Here are some pictures taking on the 15th

Enjoying a little hay

Enjoying a little hay

Man she looks good.

Man she looks good.

As usual I walked in this morning, her head over the gate with a nice big whinny and a snort! Brings a smile to my face every dang time. No way I can be in a bad mood with her, she is to darn cute.

I was mucking out her turn in stall and I was doing something in the corner, think I was moving a hook, I turn around and there she is head to the wall butt to the door, wiggling her nose to me. All she wants is my touches and scratches. I LOVE it. She follows me around the stall, instead of taking a short time to clean she makes me work LOL.

Her diet has changed some, she is now on a little more protein to help with making milk, she is no longer getting as much bran, we have added oil to her food along with the more mineral oil. I have begun to cut back her feed some as well, she has gained like crazy. Proves does not take months and years to get weight on a horse, high quality feed does it! When I got her you remember you could see her back bone her butt was all slanted instead of round. Well she has junk in the trunk and back bone what back bone???? She is looking good, and bright full of life and sassy. Shy Shy is back and going strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Without the help of everyone one from the prayers, well wishes and donations I don’t know what would have happened. I do know she is smothered with love, has a nice place to live, has caring people who are around her and come and see her (I call these fans :) aka Gina and I’s friends). Above all she is getting the best care possible!!

The next few days are supposed to be really nice out so she will get turned out, and I am hoping for a quick bath with a blow dry. Her skin is bad bad bad. I don’t know what it is. When I looked at the bottom of her belly today right by the base of her hair was yellow flaky stuff. The tea tree oil and aloe helps some but I just don’t know. It reminds me of dry itchy skin. Could possibly be. Even though her coat is starting to get shinier and less waxy feeling. She is getting brushed every single day from head to toe! She loves it and looks forward to it.

Today I brushed her with a curry, hard and soft brush, she got her mane and tail brushed out and she was in heaven I have to admit. I tried getting her hoofs picked but her balance has gone down the tubes. I am not sure if its cause the baby is all on one side or not. I do know her equal liberium is off and her depth perception. So I left her alone with that one. She is scheduled to have a barefoot specialist out on March 21st, along with a massage and a reading. She will have a full day for sure!

I took her for a little walk, she stood in the door way closed her eyes and breathed the fresh air. She is getting really good about pressure, I have got her so if I jiggle the lead a tad and say easy she will slow down. I do have to walk on her bad side so she don’t go in circles. So we walked down the driveway and she felt the spunk. She started to trot and all of a sudden I am being jarred, my knee twist. She had lost her balance and if I was not there to push her I think she would have had a really bad spill there on the gravel. I got her straight, she stood with her head in me sighing and wobbly legged. I firmly told her, her sea legs are not ready and that baby has you so off kilter you need to WALK, not go calavanting off like a racehorse. After that she didn’t, she cleaned up some scraps of hay on the ground, stared at the herd, who was to busy eating to even come and say hi!!! So after a few rolls in the snow, leaving a nice brown spot lol, well they are not as bad as before, we walked back inside and had her afternoon snack of denji with some oil and water on it (just a tad). I guess I was not going fast enough cause she was in there whinnying and snorting away, I never turned around I just stood there grinning thinking, you can whinny all day long and be perky all you want dear, its music to my ears!!

O, before I forget. The vet did call with the pregnancy test results, its confirmed she is REALLY REALLY pregnant!!! Any one wanna take a guess when the baby is born?? I am thinking 3 weeks! Her right udder is getting bigger, I looked at it today. On her teets are TINY little balls of white stuff. I didn’t touch it this time. So that is solved!! Not that I had a ounce of doubt thats for sure. It was either she is prego or she has a alien in there!

I was thinking, I have a lot that has happened to me in my life, just like many of our readers, from verbal to physical abuse. I had a HARD time forgiving and moving on with things. I sit and watch Shy she loves us TRULY loves us. For all the crap she has had to deal with from ass hats and people only thinking of themselves, racing life, life in home after home after home ( I know she went through the auction 3 times), and she STILL gives us a chance!!! WOW talk about humble pie. This mare has taught me so much about forgiveness, never giving up and perseverance. Tell yeah I have learned more from this mare then I have in a long time. Geesh I spent all that money on therapy???????????? I should have just found a horse thats been through hell and learned from them!!!!

We are going to be opening it so Shy can have visitors. We have had a bunch of inquires about it and I was holding off. She is in a awesome space now, she rarely shy’s away from us when we touch her face.

I will screen people. I am not trusting with the background of people I know of attached to her past, I don’t want negative around her period. The property is surveyed 24/7 with cameras. Is a shame it had to come to that point. Anyways, back to my point that if you would like to visit her just let me know and I can see what days fit.

I will be getting more pictures of her, I am working on a little movie of her as well. From the first day to now. So we can all see her changes, not just in her weight but spirit!

Well, I had a job interview today so I was unable to go see my 3 girls :( . I am sure Gina is sick of me I have been calling so what is she going, how is she, you do this you do that how about this. Yeah you got it I NAG NAG NAG!!! I am really protective of my horses. Some people call it OCD or anal, but lets just call it over protective k!!

The lotion I got to put on her skin condition seems to be working, warm it up she don’t kick or nothing and she has not been biting!!! Such good news she is/was miserable. I just can not wait till warm weather gets here so she can have a nice medicated bath!!

O BIG NEWS!!! She has been getting some fine cut hay!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!! She LOVES it, will even turn up grain for it. Its really fine not stemy. We are only giving it to her when we are out with her, just in case. I got to buy a few more bales tomorrow. Its sooooooooo exciting, she is coming along SO well its hard to believe!

I have been doing a lot of reflecting, its been a interesting road with her. Between anger at those that let her get in this pitiful life changing condition to hating them and now feeling sorry for them. To seeing Shy go from the dead eyes, to a horse thats in the snow rolling and prancing. Who knickers to me every morning I step foot in that barn. The lights are on and she is partying! There is nothing in life like it.
She has gained 100 pounds, I want to say more but the baby has shifted so I am knocking off some poundage for the baby. She has slowed down her eating. She no longer knocks you over when she sees you have food. She does not scarf it down like its her last meal for a lifetime. She seems to enjoy eating again and I think she knows she will never ever go with out a meal and all her meals will be the proper food no empty calorie cheap crap. She needs calories, fat and protein. She is a dang thoroughbred!
One thing I noticed about Shy Shy is she is not spooky I don’t know how many times I have made loud noises dropping shovels pitch forks pans. Nothing, she takes it all in stride!
She has excellent herd manors which is good, I can’t wait to get her little pasture set up for her and the little one. They will have one of their own, I don’t trust putting new horses with her. To much of a gamble, she has been through enough and the last thing anyone needs is her getting hurt.

She has come a long way, still has lots to over come but you know, I don’t think its gonna keep her down. She will live out her life with me and my other girls. She deserves to be happy and carefree… don’t we all at some point. She will not ever be bred again, never kept in piss poor conditions and SHE will be thought of first not no one else’s needs at anytime. Guess she is in a well deserved retirement.

I am on a quest to find out who she is, where she came from, if she had any prior injuries and so fourth. We can only make out 4 of her tat numbers the first letter and last number are missing. Someone mentioned a black light, I will have to located one as mine is broke :( . I was unsure of the TB Registry could come up with some matches along with a picture of her or not. I got an email into them I am just waiting to hear back from them.

I did pick up grain as she is almost out again. I bag beet pulp, 1 bag horseman, 1 bag horseman pellets, 1 bag of bran. It came to $50.26.
KK off to finish somethings, take care!

A rainy day!

Not a eventful day. I went out cleaned stalls and we have some really really fine hay that Shy seems to be doing well with. I only feed it when I am there and in small amounts. She rather give up grain for her hay LOL.

I picked up some Aleovera and Tea Tree Oil lotion for her skin. It been hard to medicate it cause she is really sore and kicks and she also lays down and rubs it off. So I put it in a bucket of warm water (the bottle) and when I put it on her it was nice and warm, she flinched at first, but then she was leaning into me. I think it felt good and I did not see her itch again. So keep your fingers crossed!!!!

I did get some pictures of her bobo’s but umm, after getting sprayed in the face with the sub pump hose and ice water everywhere my mind froze and I forgot the camera, either in the stall or on the 4 -wheeler. So no pictures today :( .

No change as far as bagging up. I think she was just beginning, I got all excited LOL.

O I have to tell you all about a dream I had.

I gave birth to a 20lb baby that was covered in brown and white fur by some cute guy named Mike with blond hair!!! Not sure how I squeezed that out but glad it was a dream. I think I am having human cross horse babies or something. Maybe I am nesting with Shy Shy?

KK off to watch marestare!
